Explore the role that yoga might play in your recovery. It is helpful to remember that yoga and its practices are a part of a holistic recovery program rather than a replacement, it provides additional tools to address the physical, mental and spiritual disease of addiction. In our fast paced western lifestyle, we find ourselves feeling stressed out, unbalanced, and un-grounded more often than not. Allow yourself to unwind in blissful decompression with Restorative Flow. The first half of the class will be a short centering meditation and gentle flow. Movement prepares the mind and body for relaxation and meditation which brings us to the second 1/2 of class, a Restorative Yoga practice. Restorative Yoga involves postures supported by comfy blankets, bolsters and blocks that allow you to completely relax and quiet the mind. Held for 5 minutes or more, restorative postures include light twists, seated forward folds, shoulder and heart openers.
Yin Yoga: Deep Stretch
Yin yoga is a practice of long-held, deeply relaxing "stretching" poses that open and energize the "meridians," or energy pathways of the body, restoring youthful joint mobility as you quietly activate and gather your chi, your prana---your life force.Whereas the yoga most people are familiar with appropriates the muscles or yang tissues of the body, yin yoga targets the more interior, supportive structures-the "fascia," literally down to the bone marrow. Yin is every bit as vital as a heating or "yang vinyasa" yoga practice, where one flows from pose to pose, energetically pushing the envelope, concentrating on building muscular strength and stamina. In today's world, Yin Yoga is the soothing balm, the elixir that is so badly needed to help us find balance in our stress-filled, over-scheduled lives. Join Nadya for an adventure in deep release! * This class is not for students with joint hyper-mobility issues.
