The practice of yoga has a wide range of benefits from reducing stress to increasing physical strength, flexibility and mobility. But for some, whether through the aging process, disabilities, or injury, the challenge of a traditional mat yoga class of moving from floor to standing and vice versa can deter individuals from enjoying those benefits. This is where Chair Yoga comes in.
Through the use of a chair, the challenges of getting up and down from the mat are eliminated. Chair yoga gives practitioners the opportunity to focus on building their strength and mobility while providing stability. Chair yoga gives you all the health benefits that a normal yoga practice does. The benefits include muscle toning, reduced stress levels, better breathing habits, better sleep and an overall sense of well-being. What makes chair yoga so great is that we have a different access to strength and mobility with incredible support for joint health and for our balance

Overview of Workshop:
- Opening lecture (10-15 minutes) of the importance of mobility to the body and mind
- Explore various techniques to increase mobility both seated and standing (if accessible) using the chair for stability. Individual attention will be offered to ensure everyone is moving in a safe, beneficial and enjoyable manner.
- after a short break, a guided Chair Yoga Class with a closing seated meditation
- Open up for questions or comments.
