Introduction to Ayurveda for Balanced Living
w/ Motina Austin
Friday, February 26th 6:30-9:30 pm
Ayurveda translates into “life knowledge ” and is considered by some to be the oldest documented health science. Like yoga, Ayurveda has its roots in the Vedic traditions of India. Ayurveda and yoga also share a foundation in Sankhya philosophy, which outlines the manifestation of consciousness into matter.
During the workshop we will explore how sankhya informs the principles of Ayurveda. We will also look at how to use Ayurvedic principles to make the right diet, yoga, and lifestyle choices that lead to a long and healthy life.
Participants are asked to take an online Dosha Prakriti quiz/test (below) prior to workshop.

"I came to yoga through meditation in 2004. The benefits of yoga and meditation increased my strength and flexibly, but more importantly allowed me to find calm in the chaos. My approach to yoga is introspective and breath centered. I see teaching as a shared practice with the teacher as the facilitator. I encourage students to use self-study (Svadhyaya) during our practice. Listening to one's body enables the cultivation of patience and contentment (Santosha), with where one is in the moment. There is also a nod the Ayurveda as the classes are designed to help restore the mental and physical imbalances that maybe caused by diet, lifestyle, lifecycle and/or cyclical changes in nature."
Motina's areas of study:
