"You are only as young and as healthy as your spine is strong and supple ~ Ancient yogi saying.
A healthy spine is the foundation for a healthy life. Back Bends are often referred to as "heart openers". We will cover the different types of spinal extension and how to safely strengthen your back, improve your posture and free up coordinating movements in shoulders and hips to awaken a happy and healthy spine. Explore how to work with the internal movements of the breath, and with carefully orchestrated engagements of the pelvis, lower belly and diaphragm to sustain a long and supple spine that moves gracefully into more complex and exhilarating forms. Learn anatomical principles of asana to understand how our bodies can move with safety and ease.Train progressively and learn how to work individually to maximize our potential while working safely for a sustainable long term life time of practice.
Note: This may apply as a yoga alliance CE Credit or may be applied, for those registered, as a module in the Boundless Yoga Studio 300 hour Teacher Training Program

Comfort with general yoga postures (asanas)
Note: This course is NOT for students with acute (recent and aggravated) injuries to the spine, hips, or shoulders.
